Riva was a semifinalist in the Martha del Vecchio Piano Competition in Arenzano (Italy) and the Premio Venezia Competition and was a prizewinner in other Italian piano competitions, including the Selezione Giovani Pianisti A. Mozzati (1987, 1988), Concorso Schubert (1988), and the Città di Albenga (1991, 1992). He was also a Prizewinner at the Cava dei Tirreni International Piano competition (1993) and was awarded a scholarship from the Società Umanitaria.
Appearing as recitalist, chamber musician, and piano soloist in Italy and abroad, Adalberto Riva was awarded the A.R.A.M. Prize in 1995 to underwrite a concert tour to Poland and Germany, and to take part in the Musica 2000 Review presented in Rome by CIDIM in 1996.
He has performed with the Angelicum and the Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano Orchestras, and has made several appearances with the Filarmonica Banatul (Romania) under the baton of Jean François Antonioli. During the recent year celebrating Mozart, Riva participated in the international festivals in Bergamo and Brescia, and was invited to perform at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. In addition to his performance activities, Riva teaches in Italy.
